SynopsisFollowing on from the success of the Think Again! DVD, Different Gender Same Risk is Sarah's second collaboration with the registered charity The Blast Project, the UK’s leading child exploitation charity working exclusively with boys and young men.
Same Risk Different Gender is a short film to demonstrate to professionals how easy it is to base judgements on gender and not risk indicators and how that impacts on their ability to help prevent child sexual exploitation in boys. 15 year old Connor has started hanging out with a new friend Mark who is over ten years older than him. In a series of child exploitation strategy meetings Connors Mum, social worker and other key professionals discuss what’s happening to him and make recommendations based on his gender and not on his risk indicators. As a result it creates an opportunity for Mark to sexually abuse and exploit Connor. This is based on a true story and the action is told through a series of monologues, flashbacks and meetings.
